Geoform Till Surface

Definition An area of substrate (predominantly unsorted and unstratified drift) that is generally unconsolidated, because it was deposited directly by a glacier without subsequent reworking by melt water. The surface consists of a heterogeneous mixture of clay, silt, sand, gravel, stones, and boulders; rock fragments of various lithologies are imbedded within a finer matrix that can range from clay to sandy loam.
